  A2257 - Gideon and the Angel (A1849) - Gideon believed that he couldn't help the poor Israelite people caused by their own unfaithfulness to God. But God keeps His promises even when His people were/are unfaithful to Him. But if we seriously ask God to show us His plan for our lives, He will do so. We have to change our lifestyle to what He wants.

  A2261 - Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus (A1684) - Judas had preplanned betraying the Lord Jesus. Judas had seen so many miracles and heard all Jesus' teachings. But even seeing miracles didn't and still doesn't convince some people that Jesus as God in the flesh will one day be their judge. Over 3,000 years before Jesus' birth, King David prophesied the Messiah would be betrayed by a friend (Psalm 41:9).

  A2266 - Samson Destroys 3000 Philistines (A1853) - Samson's parents did all they could to raise Samson for God's plans. However, in adult life Samson himself made some bad choices. Each person has to make a choice to give ourselves wholly to God or please self what to do. How can you tell a genuine Christian? Galatians 5:22-23 - "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

  A2270 - The Ark of God Captured (A1857) - When the Israelites took the Ark of the Covenant into battle to secure their victory, they failed to understand that it was God's presence they needed. The Ark had become an idol and this greatly displeased God. Just like Jesus, we need to know many Scripture verses to banish temptations coming into our minds.

  A2274 - Saul and the Amalekites (A1861) - Do you fear other people and their power over you? As Saul's leadership as king became more controlled by fear than by his trust in God, he told lies to Samuel to cover up his wrongdoing. He should have confessed his guilt and asked for forgiveness. He didn't do this so God rejected him as king over the Israelite people.

  A2279 - David Spares Saul's Life (A1866) - Every person has mercy from God each day but not every person sees this. Only those who give God thanks for His gifts realize how merciful God is. David's conscience troubled him after he cut a piece off King Saul's robe. We too need to listen and obey our conscience or it will become dull and useless for knowing what is right. A sensitive conscience is a great treasure and a valuable guide.

  A2283 - David Laments over Saul (A1870) - The death of Saul caused deep divisions within the tribes of Judah and Israel. Saul's commander knew David was anointed to be the next king but his personal ambitions caused much grief and loss of life by not accepting God's choice.

King David big problems in his family because of past sins. Let parents take heed: their influence in the lives of their children is enormous, either it is for good or for evil.

  A2296 - David Reveals Plan for Temple (A1883) - Despite David's many sins he always loved God and sought to repent of those sins that separated him from God. Admitting our sin and asking for forgiveness is only part of what we have to do. The other part of confessing sin is called repentance. Psalm 51 is David's repentance to God.

  A2300 - Angels Foretold the birth of Jesus (A1597) - The angel Gabriel visited a young woman named Mary in Nazareth, over 100 kilometres away from Bethlehem, the city of David. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph but the year of their living separately hadn't been finished when Gabriel told her she would be the mother of God's son and her pregnancy would come from the power of the Holy Spirit visiting her. Mary herself was born a sinner but the Lord Jesus was born sinless. Joseph was only the step-father of Jesus. When Jesus was born, the angels visited shepherds out on the hillside watching over their flocks of sheep during lambing season to tell them the Good News - the Messiah was born.
